Six-Year-Old Killed At Bus Stop

A six-year-old boy has been struck and killed while crossing U.S. Highway 178 to get to his bus stop in Orangeburg County earlier this month.

According to law enforcement officials, a bus was nearing the bus stop but had not made it when the boy crossed the road about 7:15 a.m. Investigators say the boy was struck by a pickup truck which was travelling east near the town of North. The child was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. His name has not been released.

Every year, hundreds of children are hit and seriously injured, or killed, by automobiles. Some of these tragedies occur because a driver simply didn’t see the child and could not stop until it was too late. Nothing will ever erase the pain and suffering of a parent whose child has been tragically injured or killed in an accident.
